As a Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing, you will oversee the complete procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to managing purchase orders and supporting capital projects. As a Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing, you will be responsible for leading the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process for assigned purchasing categories, ensuring that all procurement activities align with company policies and industry best practices. Your daily tasks will include sourcing and negotiating for a variety of plant materials and services, such as MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) materials, capital equipment, contract labor, industrial supplies, and equipment leases. You will be entrusted with managing spot purchases, sometimes as high as $500,000, and preparing and administering RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs to solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers.

Your role as a Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing will require you to evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms, and create and maintain purchase orders, blanket orders, service orders, and supplier agreements. Monitoring supplier performance and resolving delivery, quality, and service issues will be crucial to maintaining the standards necessary for consistent plant operations. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with departments such as Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Finance to ensure that all purchasing needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

Compliance with procurement policies, safety standards, ISO requirements, and company procedures is a fundamental aspect of the Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing position. You will be expected to maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, identify opportunities for cost savings, and continuously seek supplier improvements and process efficiencies. The ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions, optimize supplier relationships, and implement best practices in sourcing strategies will be highly valued in this position.

To excel as a Procurement Specialist – Manufacturing, you should bring a minimum of five years of purchasing or procurement experience, particularly within manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, refinery, heavy industrial, industrial distribution, fabrication, or similar industrial environments. Proficiency in managing the full Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Source-to-Pay (S2P) processes is required, as is experience purchasing MRO materials, capital equipment, contract labor, or industrial supplies. Strong skills in negotiating supplier agreements, pricing, and commercial terms, along with experience preparing and managing RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, are essential for success in this role.

Organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are crucial for effectively managing complex procurement projects and building strong supplier relationships.
