Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) to join our innovative network of neighborhood primary care centers in Birmingham, AL. This full-time opportunity is designed for a healthcare professional who is passionate about delivering equitable and effective value-based care to local Medicare patient populations. As a Primary Care Physician, you will play a pivotal role in improving health outcomes and enhancing the patient experience within a supportive clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult and geriatric patients, focusing on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and wellness.
- Utilize a value-based care model to prioritize patient health outcomes and minimize unnecessary hospital admissions.
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated care team, which includes a scribe, medical assistant, and social worker, to deliver coordinated and patient-centered care.
- Conduct patient visits with a typical volume of 13-16 patients per day, allowing for 20-minute standard appointments and 40-minute sessions for diagnostics and new patients.
- Document patient encounters using Canopy and Greenway EMR systems to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping.
- Leverage on-site laboratory services, including phlebotomy, and access specialist consultations through RubiconMD to enhance patient care.
- Participate in community engagement activities held in clinic community rooms, such as exercise classes, wellness events, and patient enrichment programs.
- Contribute to a collegial environment alongside a team of 3-5 providers, including nurse practitioners and fellow primary care physicians.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Active, unrestricted, and non-probationary medical license in the state of Alabama.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, patient-focused care.
- Fellowship training in Geriatrics is preferred, but not required.
- This position is not open to residents.
