Plumbing and HVAC Estimator Job OverviewThe Plumbing and HVAC Estimator is responsible for delivering precise and comprehensive estimating services for plumbing and mechanical projects across a variety of industries, including hospitality, sports, and healthcare. As a full-time member of our team in Las Vegas, NV, you will play a vital role in evaluating project opportunities, ensuring alignment with the company’s business objectives, and contributing to overall profitability. This position involves close collaboration with general contractors and internal teams to ensure project success from the initial estimate through project completion.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain regular contact with Pre-Construction Departments of targeted General Contractors to identify new project opportunities within Las Vegas, NV.
- Evaluate potential projects to determine suitability based on business objectives, competitive advantages, and margin expectations.
- Thoroughly review plans, P&ID’s, specifications, and contracts prior to developing estimates to identify all potential impacts on the scope of work.
- Utilize computer-based takeoff and estimating systems to prepare reproducible, accurate project bids.
- Support the sales process by developing detailed scopes of supply, delivering presentations, participating in negotiations, and assisting in closing deals.
- Assist with the preparation of project budgets for initial setup and any change order work required by Project Managers.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, presenting the scope of work, budget, work plan, and any critical requirements or limitations.
- Monitor ongoing project progress by comparing actual production rates to those established in bids, helping to ensure projects remain on track and within budget.
- Contribute to preparation of project forecasts, claims, and schedules as needed by project teams.
- Assist in tracking labor productivity and participate in weekly staff meetings to identify scope deviations, monitor production, and develop recovery plans for underperforming projects.
- Minimum of 3 years of plumbing and/or mechanical estimating experience, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, for project documentation and analysis.
- Experience with Trimble Autobid or similar estimating software platforms relevant to sheet metal or piping required.
- Field or craft experience in plumbing, piping, ductwork, or equipment installation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing, piping, ductwork standards, and applicable codes.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
