Physician (MD/DO) - Full-time
As a Physician (MD/DO), you will play a key role in providing comprehensive medical care, including preventative and therapeutic services, to patients. In this full-time role, you are responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare in accordance with established protocols, while supporting the organizational mission and objectives. The Physician (MD/DO) reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO) and works closely with the healthcare team to promote patient wellness and positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for acute and chronic health conditions.
- Utilize SOAP charting and clinic-specific documentation standards for all patient encounters, ensuring accurate and timely records.
- Coordinate and document preventative care measures, health education, and appropriate referrals for patients requiring specialized or definitive care.
- Review laboratory, imaging, and referral reports, ensuring all results are appropriately documented and addressed prior to filing.
- Participate in on-call schedules and provide phone triage on a rotational basis, assisting with patient needs during evenings and weekends as assigned.
- Consult with the Medical Director or other physicians regarding cases that fall outside standard protocols and facilitate referrals as necessary.
- Contribute to patient care by following up on missed appointments and evaluating ongoing management of chronic diseases.
- Comply with medical records guidelines, including accurate chart maintenance, timely documentation, and review/sign-off on all relevant patient data.
- Engage in clinician peer review processes, continuous quality improvement (CQI) meetings, and departmental discussions to enhance the quality of care provided.
- Collaborate with support services to provide counseling, education, and additional resources to patients when appropriate.
- Actively participate in daily team huddles with medical assistants and support staff, focusing on pre-visit planning and individualized patient care strategies.
- Attend required meetings, including monthly general staff and departmental clinician meetings, and contribute to discussions about resource development, staffing, and equipment needs.
- Maintain efficient productivity levels as defined by health center standards while upholding organizational values and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree.
- Valid and active Physician (MD/DO) license in the state of employment.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred to better serve a diverse patient population.
- Demonstrated interest in and commitment to promoting acute, chronic, and preventive care programs and concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive interactions with both patients and staff.
- Alignment with the mission and core values of the health center, reflected in everyday clinical practice and team collaboration.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds using wheeled equipment.
- Capacity to adequately hear to perform auscultation, communicate via phone and in-person, and relay information clearly to patients and staff.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read fine print on clinical and administrative documents, computer screens, and medical instruments.
