Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) - Summary
- Provide phlebotomy services in a clinical and laboratory setting, supporting patient care and diagnostic processes.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff, demonstrating proficiency in English.
- Utilize computer systems for data entry, word processing, and maintaining automated medical records.
- Accurately identify and label patient specimens to ensure proper tracking and processing.
- Maintain rigorous sanitary standards to prevent disease transmission and ensure patient safety.
- Implement proper, age-appropriate blood collection techniques as prescribed by medical protocols.
- Prepare samples correctly for laboratory analysis and ensure specimens are sent to the correct testing locations.
- Update patient records promptly and accurately to maintain quality of care and documentation.
- Comply with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines, providing care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Complete all required orientation and competency verification programs as per unit guidelines.
- Participate in committees, meetings, and process improvement initiatives relevant to laboratory services.
- Support mobile blood drives, including setup and breakdown of equipment, and assist with physical tasks as needed (able to lift up to 40 lbs.).
- Engage in customer service and medical readiness initiatives to enhance health services delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy training program, resulting in certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Health and Human Services, or American Medical Certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
- Basic Life Support certification may be required depending on state regulations.
- Strong computer literacy, including data entry and electronic medical records management.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
