The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees, ensuring all data is entered accurately and payroll is delivered on time.
- Enter and verify employee data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, and any other payroll-related information, into the payroll system.
- Maintain and update payroll records to reflect changes in salary, tax withholdings, and benefit selections for all employees.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, providing clear and accurate information in a timely manner.
- Assist with the generation and review of payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits summaries, and year-end documentation to support compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies, assisting with payroll audits as required.
- Support the Payroll Manager and other team members with various administrative tasks and participate in special payroll-related projects as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic understanding of payroll practices, procedures, and relevant compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to handling sensitive payroll information with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with employees and internal teams.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using payroll software or systems such as JD Edwards ERP or similar platforms is an advantage.
