Optigy is seeking a highly qualified Pathology Assistant (PA) to join their team on a Locum Tenens, full-time basis in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The Pathology Assistant will play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by providing expert gross examination of surgical specimens. Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination and dissection of a wide variety of surgical specimens, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory staff and pathologists to ensure comprehensive handling and documentation of specimens.
- Adhere to all laboratory protocols and safety regulations while maintaining a high standard of specimen integrity and workflow efficiency.
- Provide support to pathologists by preparing specimens for microscopic examination, as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of grossing activities and specimen handling in compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards.
- Assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring proper functioning of tools used in the grossing process.
Schedule and Assignment Details
- This is a Locum Tenens, full-time position with urgent coverage needed during the following dates: June 9–12 and July 21–23.
- Additional flexible scheduling options may be available to accommodate other dates as needed.
- Start date for this assignment is set for February 17, 2025.
- The credentialing process typically requires approximately 90 days to complete.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Pathology Assistant (PA) program, or licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) with relevant pathology experience.
- Active South Carolina license to practice as a Pathology Assistant or Physician Assistant.
- Demonstrated experience with specimen grossing in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a laboratory team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
