We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Internal Medicine team in a full-time, outpatient setting. As a valued member of our healthcare practice, you will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to provide comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of internal medicine concerns. Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in treating patients by performing detailed patient evaluations, obtaining medical histories, and conducting thorough physical examinations.
- Deliver post-surgical wound care, monitor patient recovery, and manage follow-up appointments to ensure optimal healing and health outcomes.
- Coordinate patient care by arranging necessary tests, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring seamless care transitions.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, including reports and imaging examinations, in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Educate, counsel, and instruct patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication usage, and general wellness to promote patient understanding and adherence.
- Facilitate referrals to specialists or community resources when additional care or support is needed.
- Dictate progress notes, complete history and physical documents, and prepare discharge summaries to ensure continuity of care.
- Administer and/or order medications as directed by the supervising physician, adhering to best practices and legal guidelines.
- Initiate emergency measures when necessary to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Perform regular chart reviews to monitor patient progress and maintain quality care standards.
- Consult with clinical staff and collaborate on patient care strategies and treatment plans.
- Order and interpret special tests, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care as needed.
- Counsel patients on preventive care, lifestyle modifications, and health maintenance to encourage proactive health management.
- Share on-call responsibilities with supervising physicians to provide continuous patient coverage.
- Respond to patient calls and inquiries, providing clear and compassionate communication.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the supervising physician to support patient care and clinical operations.
Qualifications
- Current and active license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in good standing.
- Certification maintained in accordance with Department of Regulations and professional standards.
- Strong ability to perform healthcare tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating within a team.
- Sound diagnostic skills and clinical judgment to assess and manage patient health needs.
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
- Meets the standards and requirements set by the Board of Medicine.
- Experience in internal medicine preferred but not required; new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is an asset but not mandatory.
Licensure
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license preferred for Nurse Practitioners.
