Network Security Engineer Position OverviewIDR is seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Security Engineer to join our client on a full-time basis in Nashville. This role is integral to the ongoing security and development of intelligent traffic systems within the city, supporting a large-scale initiative to enhance public safety and technological advancement. The Network Security Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust network protection, focusing on the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of security for traffic signal and intersection systems.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain the security of traffic signal and intersection systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Implement, configure, and manage network firewalls, with a preference for Check Point systems; transferable experience with Palo Alto is also valuable.
- Oversee remote access solutions to guarantee secure and reliable connectivity for authorized personnel.
- Evaluate network vulnerabilities, analyze security risks, and engineer effective solutions to optimize the safety and efficiency of intelligent traffic systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to assess network security risks and drive continuous improvement of infrastructure.
- Apply Metro’s existing security framework and best practices to protect critical infrastructure within the city’s transportation network.
- Support the planning, development, and implementation of new security measures for intelligent traffic system projects.
- Extensive, senior-level experience in network security, including a strong foundation in configuring and managing firewalls and remote access solutions.
- Hands-on experience with intelligent traffic system design and security is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, protocols, and best practices in a complex, large-scale environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to accurately assess security risks and engineer comprehensive protection strategies.
