Medical Receptionist Job Overview
G&G Healthcare, an established outpatient primary care practice, is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist for a full-time position. As a key member of the administrative team, the Medical Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is essential to the smooth functioning of the practice, supporting both patients and healthcare professionals through effective communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the front desk.
- Efficiently schedule patient appointments, manage calendars, and confirm upcoming visits, ensuring optimal patient flow through the primary care office.
- Handle all incoming calls, emails, and other communications with professionalism, providing accurate information and redirecting queries as necessary.
- Take dictation from patients, physicians, or other healthcare providers as needed, ensuring all information is accurately transcribed and documented.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of medical terminology in daily communications and documentation, supporting effective coordination between patients and providers.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice policies, safeguarding all personal health information.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and updating patient records in the electronic health system.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure that all office operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to a team-oriented culture.
- Uphold a positive and helpful attitude when assisting patients, co-workers, and physicians, ensuring a high level of customer service at all times.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in customer service, preferably within a medical or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes is strongly preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in scheduling software, email, and electronic health records systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
