Medical Office Specialist Job OverviewTrue Care Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Specialist to join our internal medicine team on a full-time basis in Parkville/Carney, MD. As a Medical Office Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our busy primary care office, providing outstanding service to patients and supporting the daily administrative functions that keep our office running efficiently. This position is ideal for candidates with strong organizational and communication skills who are passionate about contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Warmly greeting patients upon arrival and ensuring a welcoming environment in the medical office.
- Efficiently checking patients into the system, collecting updated contact information, and obtaining current insurance cards.
- Verifying insurance coverage, collecting co-pays and outstanding account balances, and accurately documenting payments within the office's electronic system.
- Managing incoming phone calls, addressing patient inquiries, and sending electronic messages to medical providers and staff as needed.
- Coordinating and scheduling patient appointments to optimize provider schedules and maintain smooth patient flow throughout the day.
- Filing and organizing patient records electronically to ensure patient information is easily accessible and confidentially maintained.
- Assisting with retrieving medical records and electronically filing patient forms as required by office protocols.
- Ensuring departing patients have scheduled any necessary follow-up appointments and answering any last questions before they leave.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Proficiency in typing and basic computer applications, with the ability to quickly learn new software systems as needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail in all administrative tasks.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Capability to pass a background check and drug test according to company policy.
- At least one year of experience working in a medical office or similar healthcare administrative setting is preferred but not required.
The Medical Office Specialist role at True Care Medical Group in Parkville/Carney, MD is a full-time position that requires flexibility to work different 8-hour shifts throughout the week. Some evening shifts are required. The regular schedule covers Monday through Friday, from 6:45 AM to 5:30 PM. Schedules are created with fairness and office needs in mind and may be subject to change based on operational requirements.
