Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Summary
- Perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tests and procedures across hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, phlebotomy, transfusion, and blood bank sections.
- Ensure sample integrity and maintain physiologic properties during specimen preparation and analysis.
- Calibrate, standardize, and maintain laboratory instruments according to established protocols.
- Conduct quality control checks and verify instrument operation to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Support heavy phlebotomy needs, particularly during peak patient service seasons.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and assist in various lab sections as operational needs arise.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Handle and process specimens while maintaining safety and quality practices.
- Participate in instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Adhere to quality control measures and document results accurately.
- Assist with phlebotomy, including blood collection and specimen labeling.
- Support laboratory operations during high-volume periods.
- Engage in cross-training and assist in other laboratory sections as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and laboratory policies.
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of an approved college-based laboratory technician certification program.
- Current certification by recognized agencies (ASCP or AMT) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience rotating through all major laboratory sections.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a NACI background check.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and willingness to assist in multiple laboratory areas.
