Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic laboratory procedures across various laboratory sections. This position is essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of lab results that inform patient care and treatment decisions. The MLT is expected to demonstrate proficiency in areas such as hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, phlebotomy, and blood bank operations. With a focus on quality, safety, and teamwork, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a pivotal role in the daily functions of the clinical laboratory environment. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a comprehensive range of clinical laboratory tests in multiple laboratory sections, including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, phlebotomy, and transfusion/blood bank.
- Conduct heavy phlebotomy, especially during peak PCS season within the PSS lab, ensuring patient comfort and sample integrity.
- Prepare specimens meticulously for analysis, maintaining their physiological properties throughout the process.
- Calibrate, standardize, and maintain laboratory instruments to guarantee accurate and reproducible results.
- Verify instrument operation using established procedures and perform quality control checks regularly to uphold laboratory standards.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and support other lab sections as needed to facilitate smooth workflow and optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Laboratory Technician Certification (MLT or equivalent required).
- ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or AMT (American Medical Technologists) certification.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience with rotations through all sections of a medical laboratory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Successful completion of a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries) background check.
- U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and willingness to assist other laboratory departments as needed.
