The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO, FM/IM/Geriatrics) position offers a unique opportunity for a qualified physician leader to join a physician-led, mission-driven primary care organization dedicated to transforming outpatient care for senior populations in Louisville, KY. This role is central to the organization’s mission of honoring seniors by providing accessible, high-quality primary care focused on better health outcomes. As a Medical Director in primary care, you will play a pivotal role in managing clinical operations, guiding care teams, and overseeing value-based care initiatives that impact the health and well-being of patients with complex care needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to deliver patient-centered, value-based care for a panel of senior patients, most of whom manage multiple chronic conditions.
- Oversee day-to-day clinic operations to ensure high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage a small patient panel (60-90 patients maximum), fostering strong patient relationships and continuity of care.
- Work collaboratively with in-house consulting specialists, including cardiology, podiatry, and others, to coordinate comprehensive care for patients.
- Promote holistic health services, such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutrition, as part of integrated care offerings.
- Engage in ongoing staff development and leadership training, including programs such as PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director Essentials, and Leadership Pathways.
- Monitor and improve clinic performance metrics, including medical economics, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in sales and growth strategies to expand the reach and impact of the clinic within the Louisville, KY community.
- Champion the organization's mission to provide affordable, VIP-level primary care and support patients with transportation services when needed.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally for organizational needs.
