Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) Position Overview
The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) plays a vital leadership role within the healthcare organization, with a focus on overseeing and guiding primary care providers (PCPs) across multiple clinics. This full-time opportunity in Little Rock, AR, blends both administrative leadership and clinical responsibilities to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) is integral to shaping organizational strategy and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in primary care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor primary care physicians across a network of 3-5 clinics, providing direct supervision and support to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice.
- Maintain a clinical presence by occasionally providing direct patient care, allowing for close connection with patients and a deep understanding of clinical workflows.
- Serve as a role model in delivering high-quality care and embodying the mission of transforming primary care for seniors and the wider patient community.
- Oversee clinical operations, collaborating closely with the Vice Presidents of Operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and excellence in service delivery.
- Play a key role in launching and establishing new clinics, contributing to market expansion and organizational growth.
- Provide leadership through the opening phase of new markets, with direct patient care responsibilities as needed, transitioning to more administrative oversight as clinics mature.
- Support continuous improvement by sharing best practices, collaborating with other market leaders, and contributing strategic input to organizational-wide initiatives.
- Drive key initiatives, including network development, specialty referrals, documentation and coding accuracy, quality improvement (e.g., HEDIS measures), utilization management, transitional care, case management, and clinical compliance.
- Promote patient engagement and community outreach, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances the patient experience.
- Communicate the organization’s care model and its impact to staff, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and values.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) is required.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatrics (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and lead clinical teams in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience in value-based care (VBC) or managed care settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the Little Rock, AR market as needed to support clinic operations and staff engagement.
