Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) Position Overview
The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) plays a key leadership role within our organization, overseeing multiple primary care clinics and guiding a team of primary care providers. Based in Little Rock, AR, this full-time position is integral to ensuring the highest standards of patient care, operational excellence, and continual improvement across the market. The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) will balance clinical responsibilities with strategic and administrative duties, working closely with both clinical staff and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for 3-5 primary care clinics within the Little Rock, AR market, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality care.
- Serve as a mentor, coach, and leader to primary care physicians, supporting their professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Participate in direct patient care as needed, maintaining close connections with patient needs and clinical best practices.
- Contribute to organizational strategic initiatives, including input on network development, specialty referrals, and operational policies.
- Lead and support the opening of new clinics in the region, guiding the process from pre-launch to operational stability.
- Oversee and collaborate with the VP of Operations to ensure efficient clinical workflows and compliance with organizational standards.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, focusing on accurate documentation, coding, HEDIS measures, utilization management, and case management.
- Engage in community outreach and patient engagement efforts to further the organization’s mission.
- Promote a culture of high-quality, patient-centered care and support the transformation of primary care delivery for seniors.
- Travel within the Little Rock, AR market as required to provide leadership and support to multiple clinic sites.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree required.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatrics preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach physicians and clinical staff.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in value-based care (VBC) or managed care environments strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the local market as needed.
