Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) for an outpatient clinic offering senior-focused healthcare in New Orleans, LA. As a physician-led and mission-driven organization, our primary care team is committed to delivering high-quality, value-based services to underserved populations. The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) will play a pivotal role in clinical leadership, patient care, and supporting the organization's mission to provide comprehensive, affordable care to seniors.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team consisting of primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Oversee a small patient panel of 60-90 seniors, managing complex care needs and multiple chronic conditions, typically 3-5 per patient.
- Implement and monitor value-based care models to improve patient health and satisfaction.
- Coordinate and collaborate with in-house consulting specialists such as cardiology and podiatry, as well as holistic health service providers offering acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutrition counseling.
- Promote effective patient flow and clinic operations, ensuring timely and quality care within clinic hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.
- Participate in the development and execution of clinical protocols, policies, and procedures that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development including PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director and Center Operations training, Leadership Pathways Program, and education related to medical economics and center financial performance.
- Foster a collaborative environment that supports the professional growth of providers and staff, while upholding the mission of delivering VIP care to seniors.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and readiness to travel locally and regionally as needed.
- Commitment to serving senior populations with compassion and professionalism.
