Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) for an outpatient clinic serving the Memphis, TN community. As a leader in a physician-led, mission-driven healthcare organization, the Medical Director – Primary Care will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, value-based care to a senior patient population. This is a full-time opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving health outcomes for seniors with complex medical needs and is committed to advancing primary care delivery in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily clinical operations of the primary care outpatient center, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive and coordinated care to senior patients.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide direct patient care for a manageable panel of 60-90 patients, focusing on seniors with multiple chronic diseases and complex health needs.
- Implement and support value-based care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and optimize clinic performance.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and professional development of clinical staff through structured programs such as PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director Essentials, and Leadership Pathways.
- Support clinic operations by contributing to medical economics, center financial performance, and growth strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, clinical protocols, and organizational mission to honor seniors with affordable, high-quality care.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists in cardiology, podiatry, and other fields to provide holistic, interdisciplinary healthcare services.
- Engage in outreach and communication with patients and their families, supporting transportation solutions and other care access initiatives.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice outpatient setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience preferred, including managing clinical teams or directing medical operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed to support clinic operations.
