Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) Overview
As a Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) with our physician-led and mission-driven healthcare organization, you will play a pivotal role in transforming primary care delivery for seniors in Virginia Beach, VA. We are seeking experienced clinical leaders who are passionate about improving health outcomes and building collaborative teams in a supportive outpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) within the outpatient clinic.
- Manage a small patient panel, ensuring personalized care for a maximum of 60-90 senior patients, primarily with 3-5 chronic diseases.
- Champion value-based care principles, focusing on improved health outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and organizational standards.
- Participate in and facilitate ongoing training, including PCP Black Belt Training, PCP Essentials, and Medical Director leadership programs.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists, including cardiology and podiatry, to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Promote holistic health services such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutrition within the clinical setting.
- Engage in local and occasional regional travel as needed for leadership and operational duties.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in geriatric or family practice settings.
- Previous leadership experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
