Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) to join our leadership team on a full-time basis in Milwaukee, WI. This influential leadership role provides a unique opportunity to guide primary care physicians (PCPs) across a network of neighborhood clinics, directly impacting the quality of care delivered to patients and driving continuous improvement in clinical operations. The Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) will balance administrative leadership with some clinical practice, remaining closely connected to patient care while serving as a mentor and coach to providers within our health centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of PCPs across several clinics within the Milwaukee, WI market, supporting both experienced and new providers in delivering high-quality primary care services.
- Maintain clinical engagement by providing patient care as needed, ensuring a hands-on understanding of clinic operations and patient needs.
- Oversee clinical operations in collaboration with the Vice Presidents of Operations, ensuring the implementation of best practices and operational excellence across all market clinics.
- Support the launch of new clinics within the market, including involvement in pre-opening activities and ongoing oversight as locations become established.
- Serve as a key member of the health leadership team, contributing to organization-wide strategic initiatives such as network development, specialty referrals, quality improvement, and clinical compliance.
- Champion quality improvement efforts, including accurate documentation and coding, HEDIS measures, utilization management, transitional care, and case management.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that prioritizes patient engagement, community outreach, and the continuous professional development of clinical staff.
- Communicate and exemplify the organization’s mission to transform primary care and elevate the standard of care for seniors in Milwaukee, WI.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatrics preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach medical providers, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
- 3-5 years of experience in value-based care (VBC) or managed care strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within the Milwaukee, WI market to support multiple clinical sites as needed.
