Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) for a full-time position in Virginia Beach, VA. This role is central to leading a mission-driven, physician-led primary care organization known for its innovative approach in providing comprehensive outpatient services to seniors. The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) will play a key part in supporting our commitment to delivering affordable, quality care to one of the most vulnerable patient populations in the Tidewater area of Coastal Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee clinical operations for a small patient panel of 60-90 senior patients, focusing on those with multiple chronic conditions.
- Directly manage primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) to ensure delivery of value-based care.
- Promote and uphold best practices in patient care, including the integration of in-house consulting specialists such as cardiology and podiatry.
- Implement holistic health services within the clinic, including acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutrition counseling.
- Participate in leadership programs, including PCP Black Belt Training, PCP Essentials, and Center Operations training to enhance clinic performance and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with the leadership team on medical economics and center financial performance.
- Foster a supportive environment for staff and patients, ensuring a positive patient experience with services such as door-to-door transportation for eligible patients.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a closely related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
