Medical Director – Primary Care, MD/DO Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director – Primary Care, MD/DO, to join our mission-driven team in New Orleans, LA. Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the outpatient primary care clinic, ensuring quality standards and clinical best practices are met.
- Manage and mentor primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Oversee a small patient panel of 60-90 seniors, focusing on patients with multiple chronic conditions and complex healthcare needs.
- Champion value-based care initiatives, striving for improved patient outcomes and efficient resource utilization.
- Participate in and complete specialized training programs in PCP Black Belt Training, PCP Essentials, medical director operations, and leadership development.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists, including cardiology and podiatry, to deliver integrated and holistic patient care.
- Support clinic operations by engaging in performance management, medical economics, and center financial oversight.
- Promote patient-centered services such as holistic health options (acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutrition) and arrange transportation for patients who need assistance accessing care.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or a closely related specialty.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine preferred.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing clinical staff preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and open to local and occasional regional travel as needed.
