Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) to lead a primary care outpatient clinic in Memphis, TN. As a vital member of a physician-led, mission-driven organization, the Medical Director – Primary Care will play a key role in transforming care for the senior population through value-based healthcare delivery. Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the primary care team, which includes Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
- Manage a focused patient panel, with a maximum of 60-90 seniors, each typically managing 3-5 chronic diseases.
- Deliver high-quality, value-based care to an aging population, ensuring patient-centered and holistic health services are provided.
- Promote best practices in medical care, compliance, and patient safety throughout the clinic.
- Coordinate with in-house consulting specialists such as cardiologists and podiatrists, and support integration of holistic health services including acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition.
- Participate actively in leadership training programs, such as PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director Essentials, and Leadership Pathways Program, to further enhance clinical and operational knowledge.
- Oversee clinic operations, contributing to financial performance, growth, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the clinic’s mission to provide affordable VIP care by ensuring transportation services for patients in need are effectively managed.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work culture that prioritizes patient care, staff development, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed for clinical or operational purposes.
