Medical Director, Primary Care Job Overview
We are a physician-led, mission-driven primary care organization dedicated to transforming healthcare for seniors. As a Medical Director, Primary Care, you will play a vital leadership role in overseeing clinical operations, guiding care teams, and advancing value-based care for a senior patient population. This is a full-time position based in Fort Myers, FL, where you will help shape a collaborative, patient-centered environment and contribute to our vision of providing affordable VIP care that leads to better health outcomes for the neediest communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the clinical operations of the primary care center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-based care to a panel of senior patients, typically with multiple chronic conditions.
- Supervise and mentor primary care providers (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee a small patient panel of approximately 60-90 individuals, allowing for personalized attention and comprehensive care management.
- Implement and monitor clinical protocols and best practices to optimize patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Participate in and promote leadership development initiatives, including Center Medical Director training programs, which cover clinical excellence, center operations, medical economics, and leadership pathways.
- Engage in ongoing training in medical economics, financial performance, and center growth strategies.
- Work closely with in-house consulting specialists, such as cardiology and podiatry, to provide holistic care services, including acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition support.
- Support the organization’s mission and values, upholding a commitment to delivering exceptional care and honoring the health needs of seniors.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; previous leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to manage clinical teams and drive quality improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
