Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Overview
We are seeking an experienced and committed Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) for our outpatient clinic in Richmond, VA. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the clinical operations of a primary care outpatient center, ensuring delivery of high-quality, value-based care to a panel of senior patients with complex, chronic conditions.
- Supervise and support a team of primary care providers (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), fostering collaboration and professional development.
- Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of care models that emphasize patient-centered, holistic approaches, including coordination with in-house consulting specialists in cardiology, podiatry, and other relevant fields.
- Engage in regular center operations, including oversight of patient scheduling, clinic workflow, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Utilize leadership training programs such as PCP Black Belt Training, Essentials, and pathways focused on medical economics and financial performance to drive clinic growth and efficiency.
- Provide direct patient care to a manageable panel, focusing on seniors with multiple chronic diseases, and ensure adherence to guidelines for value-based care.
- Contribute to practice growth initiatives, participate in medical staff meetings, and collaborate with administrative and operational teams.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of one year clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting. Prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.
