Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Serve as the clinical lead and active member of the Executive Leadership Team, supporting the development and implementation of safe, efficient, and effective care delivery processes. Provide clinical oversight and guidance to ensure alignment with the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and organizational goals.
- Provider Supervision: Act as the direct supervisor for all medical providers, overseeing day-to-day clinical practice, offering coaching and performance feedback, and supporting professional growth. Lead peer review processes, conduct annual evaluations, and facilitate monthly provider meetings focused on clinical and professional development.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Executive Leadership Team, Directors, and Managers to coordinate training for provider and clinical staff. Collaborate on clinical operations, strategic planning, and quality improvement initiatives to achieve HCHC's mission and objectives.
- Quality Improvement: Oversee the Quality Improvement (QI) Committee. Support and implement QI initiatives in partnership with health center staff to ensure regulatory compliance, optimize patient outcomes, and drive organizational excellence.
- Recruitment and Retention: Play an integral role in recruiting, interviewing, and retaining provider team members. Participate in leadership development opportunities and professional training to enhance the effectiveness of the Medical Director role.
- Risk and Compliance: Collaborate with management and the Risk & Compliance Officer to address and resolve patient complaints of a clinical nature, ensuring corrective actions are implemented as necessary.
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license in the state of Virginia.
- Board certification in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
- Experience in clinical leadership, preferably within a community health center or primary care setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing inclusive, patient-centered care to diverse populations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), preferably eClinicalWorks.
