Medical Billing Specialists are trusted to perform second-tier account follow-up activities, adhering to organizational, client, and regulatory guidelines regarding outstanding insurance receivables. Your expertise in healthcare billing, coding, and payer communications will be essential in resolving high-dollar accounts receivable, addressing eligibility discrepancies, reviewing UB-04 and HCFA 1500 claims forms, and understanding a variety of reimbursement structures such as DRG, per diem, case rate, and fee schedules.
In addition to technical billing responsibilities, you will also serve as a key communicator, liaising professionally with colleagues, payers, and clients to ensure prompt and effective account resolution. You will identify and communicate A/R trends, payer behaviors, workflow inconsistencies, and other barriers to resolution, helping to shape and improve internal processes. Your documentation skills will be critical as you research and respond to correspondence related to assigned accounts, provide correction documentation, and escalate payer errors for re-processing when necessary.

To succeed in this role, you must possess a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in healthcare provider revenue cycle management, a high school diploma or equivalent, and hands-on experience with industry-recognized Revenue Cycle Management Systems such as Epic, Cerner, Invision, Soarian, McKesson, Allscripts, and Meditech. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, as well as experience with UB-04 and/or HCFA 1500 billing and account follow-up, are essential. Proficiency in general PC applications, typing (minimum of 40 wpm), multitasking, and competency with Microsoft Suite and assorted internet browsers are also required.
Physical requirements for the Medical Billing Specialist position include frequent use of hands and fingers, the ability to communicate verbally, and the capacity to exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and up to 5 pounds frequently. The ability to sit for extended periods is necessary to perform the essential duties of this role.
