Medical Biller and Coder (CPC) Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Biller and Coder (CPC) to join our internal medicine team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting patient encounters, which includes entering diagnostic and procedural information, as well as capturing significant reportable elements and complications. Your expertise in medical billing and coding will support our commitment to quality care and ensure proper reimbursement for medical services rendered. This position is based in a professional healthcare office and offers the opportunity to grow within a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities- Code and abstract patient medical records to identify diagnostic and procedural information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
- Review medical documentation to identify deficiencies and ensure complete and appropriate clinical documentation for billing purposes.
- Manage insurance claims, including claim submission, follow-up, and resolution of any discrepancies or denials.
- Process invoices and monitor payments to ensure timely reimbursement for services provided.
- Analyze and research data needs for reimbursement and billing accuracy.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding information as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided by the organization.
- Current CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification is required.
- Risk Adjustment Certification is considered a plus.
- At least 1 year of experience in medical billing and coding is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with technical billing and coding systems efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals and insurance representatives.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive patient and billing information.
