Medical Biller Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our primary care team in Howell, MI. As a Medical Biller, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate claim submission, payment posting, and resolution of billing issues for our privately owned primary care practice. This full-time opportunity is ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting patient care through efficient and precise medical billing processes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records to ensure accuracy in diagnostic, procedural, and all data abstraction items necessary for claim submission.
- Prepare and submit claims, both paper and electronic, in a timely and organized manner to maximize reimbursement and reduce claim denials.
- Accurately post insurance and patient payments into the billing system, ensuring all transactions are documented and reconciled properly.
- Research and resolve billing issues, including following up on missing, denied, or rejected claims from insurance companies to ensure timely payment.
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients, offering clear explanations and support regarding their accounts and insurance claims.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, and supporting other administrative functions as needed.
Qualifications
- Medical Billing Certificate required.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
- Must be self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills are required to resolve complex billing scenarios.
- Experience with diagnosis/CPT coding is necessary.
- Background in implementation and billing for multiple provider types under the same Tax ID/NPI is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Medicare billing and commercial insurance billing processes is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required for daily billing and record-keeping tasks.
