Medical Assistant (MA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Overview
The Medical Assistant (MA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering direct patient care and assisting with a range of clinical and administrative tasks. Under the supervision of a licensed medical provider, the MA/CNA ensures efficient clinic operations, maintains a welcoming environment for patients, and upholds high standards of service at Crossroads Health Center. This full-time position enables the smooth functioning of the clinic and contributes to positive patient experiences through professionalism and compassion.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist medical providers with a variety of clinical procedures including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, administering injections, performing urine tests, conducting EKGs, and applying splints or performing other specialty-specific tasks as needed.
- Prepare and clean exam rooms before and after patient visits and clinical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sanitized and organized according to clinic protocols.
- Perform patient intake duties, such as documenting medical information, reporting test results, and conducting phone triage as directed by licensed personnel or supervising providers.
- Complete daily documentation and assist with the review and maintenance of required logs, contributing to the accuracy and compliance of medical records within the clinic's system.
- Maintain an organized and efficient workload while providing prompt, courteous, and professional service to providers, patients, and visitors to the Crossroads Health Center.
- Educate patients on medications, dietary instructions, and other relevant health topics, addressing questions and concerns to support patient understanding and compliance with care plans.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the safety and quality of patient care in accordance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in a medical practice setting, or successful completion of an externship program.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and basic patient care techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in using medical record systems and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, enabling excellent service to patients and effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced clinic environment.
