Medical Assistant (MA) Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Primary Care Practice as a full-time member of our team. The Medical Assistant (MA) will play a crucial role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by ensuring seamless patient care and efficient daily operations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate and up-to-date health records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Obtain clinical data from patients and their medical historians, ensuring thorough and precise documentation.
- Communicate laboratory and test results to patients, providing clear explanations of normal findings as instructed by supervising providers.
- Handle prescription refill requests efficiently and in accordance with practice protocols and provider instructions.
- Schedule patient appointments, conduct outreach efforts, and manage inbound and outbound phone calls with professionalism and empathy.
- Triage patients by gathering relevant information, assessing immediate needs, and prioritizing care appropriately.
- Collect test samples, perform waived laboratory testing, and ensure adherence to clinical quality and safety standards.
- Prepare exam rooms before each visit by stocking supplies, cleaning, and setting up necessary equipment.
- Order laboratory tests as directed and follow up on pending results to ensure timely patient care.
- Administer injections and immunizations in accordance with clinical policies and under appropriate supervision.
- Explain medical procedures and protocols to patients and families, promoting understanding and comfort during visits.
- Assist healthcare providers in basic examinations and procedures, supporting optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor in all patient and team interactions, contributing to a positive clinic environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant (MA) in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology relevant to primary care.
- Demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical staff and providers.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a compassionate bedside manner when interacting with patients and families.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, including scheduling, patient outreach, and EMR documentation.
- Solid computer skills necessary for navigating healthcare software and managing electronic health records.
