Medical Assistant (MA) Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our primary care practice on a full-time basis. This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care and support clinical operations in a dynamic healthcare environment. As a key member of the medical team, the Medical Assistant (MA) will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate health records, ensuring all information is up-to-date and confidential.
- Obtain clinical data from patients and patient historians, including collecting vital signs and medical histories.
- Inform patients of normal lab and test results in a timely and professional manner.
- Handle prescription refills and coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate medication management.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient outreach, and respond to phone inquiries efficiently.
- Triage patients upon arrival, collect laboratory and test samples, and maintain meticulous patient records.
- Follow up with patients as needed regarding care plans, test results, and future appointments.
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient visits, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Order laboratory tests and assist with sample processing as directed by clinical staff.
- Administer injections and immunizations, adhering to safety protocols and patient education standards.
- Explain common medical procedures to patients, providing clear instructions and support as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers during basic examinations and minor procedures.
- Utilize Accountable Care Organization (ACO) tools to guide patients in accessing high-value healthcare resources.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- One year of experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (preferred).
- One year of experience taking vital signs and supporting clinical workflows (preferred).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification (preferred).
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential (preferred).
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (required).
- Demonstrated experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- Professional demeanor with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a positive bedside manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Well-developed administrative and computer skills, including proficiency in EMR systems.
