Medical Assistant (MA) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our healthcare team specializing in adult geriatric care. As a Medical Assistant (MA), you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our medical facility, ensuring efficient workflows and seamless patient care. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced providers in a collaborative and compassionate environment focused on the needs of adult and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities
- Measure and record vital signs, maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepare patients for examinations by gathering relevant medical information and ensuring patient comfort
- Assist providers with exams and minor procedures, following established protocols and infection control guidelines
- Perform basic laboratory tests and EKGs as ordered by the healthcare provider
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations in accordance with clinical policies and procedures
- Complete prior authorizations for procedures, testing, and durable medical equipment (DME) supplies to support patient care
- Triage patient phone calls by assessing concerns, providing information, and routing messages appropriately
- Assist with the ongoing care management of patients with chronic diseases, supporting provider-directed care plans
- Communicate regularly and effectively with providers regarding patient care needs, both verbally and via the EMR
Skills and Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology and common medical issues, especially in the field of geriatrics
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and perform effectively in high-pressure or stressful situations
- Strong communication skills and a focus on customer service to provide a positive patient experience
- Proficiency in standard medical assistant skills, including patient preparation, data entry, and clinical support tasks
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
