Family Medicine of Malta is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our private family practice team. As a Medical Assistant (MA) in our primary care setting, you will play an essential role in supporting both providers and patients to ensure high-quality, personalized healthcare experiences. Responsibilities
- Greet and check patients in and out, ensuring a welcoming and compassionate experience throughout their visit.
- Respond to incoming calls, which may include scheduling appointments, processing refill requests, and relaying medical advice from providers.
- Assist with pre-appointment planning, ensuring all necessary documentation and preparations are completed ahead of patient visits.
- Update and maintain patient information in Medent, our electronic medical records (EMR) system, and collect comprehensive medical histories for new patients.
- Support healthcare providers with patient care, medical procedures, clerical tasks, and insurance-related activities as needed.
- Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) and collect other clinical specimens, such as urine samples and throat cultures, following proper protocols.
- Process laboratory specimens for in-house or external lab testing, ensuring accurate labeling and timely handling.
- Conduct office procedures, including EKGs and orthostatic blood pressure measurements, to assist in patient diagnostics and care.
- Relay laboratory and test results to patients over the phone, maintaining clarity and professionalism in all communications.
- Handle insurance tasks, such as obtaining prior authorizations for certain procedures, based on patient coverage requirements.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and privacy regulations in every aspect of the role.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to be trained; previous clinical or administrative experience in a medical office is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Medent is a plus.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Work Schedule
Medical Assistant (MA) positions at Family Medicine of Malta may be full-time or part-time, based on mutual agreement. The office operates from 7:30 AM to 7 PM Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 AM to 4 PM on Fridays, with a daily lunch break from 12 PM to 1 PM. All work is performed in person, providing direct support to patients and healthcare providers.
