Medical Assistant (MA) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our healthcare team. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who are motivated to provide high-quality clinical and administrative support in a medical office setting. As a Medical Assistant (MA), you will play a key role in delivering patient-centered care, supporting both clinical and front office operations, and working collaboratively within a team environment. This opportunity is open to those with current certification and a passion for healthcare, whether you have experience or are willing to learn and grow in the role.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and routine clinical tasks.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKG, pulmonary function tests (PFT), and assist with continuous glucose monitoring as indicated.
- Administer immunizations to children and adults, documenting in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).
- Operate autoclave for sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Conduct point-of-service testing including HbA1c and PT INR as required.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR), preferably with MEDENT, to document patient medical histories and visit details accurately.
- Schedule patient appointments, handle patient check-in and check-out processes, and room patients efficiently.
- Record patient vital signs and gather relevant medical information during visits.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Collaborate effectively as a team player in a busy office environment, supporting both the front and back office as needed.
- Adhere to patient-centered medical home and value-based care requirements.
- Exhibit flexibility and a willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a two-year degree in medical assisting.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) is required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is required.
- Completion of HIPAA compliance training.
- One year of clinical experience is preferred, but candidates willing to train are encouraged to apply.
- EHR proficiency is required; experience with MEDENT is preferred.
- Associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
