Medical Assistant (MA) Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our primary care team in Charlotte, NC. As a full-time member of our healthcare practice, the Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting both patients and clinical staff by ensuring efficient and compassionate care delivery. This position is essential for maintaining smooth daily operations within our primary care office, and it offers an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet patients in person or by telephone, providing a positive first impression and ensuring a hospitable environment.
- Verify and record patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and recording medical histories, and confirming the purpose of each visit.
- Prepare patients for examinations by directing and/or accompanying them to exam rooms, ensuring their comfort and readiness for the healthcare provider.
- Perform preliminary physical assessments, including taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, and temperature, as well as conducting EKGs.
- Collect and process clinical data and test samples from patients, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
- Assist healthcare providers during basic examinations and medical procedures, ensuring patients understand procedures and are supported throughout their visit.
- Inform patients of normal laboratory and test results, answer questions, and provide clear instructions on medication, diet, and ongoing care as directed by the provider.
- Manage patient records by maintaining accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensuring compliance with all legal and confidentiality requirements.
- Complete diagnostic and procedure coding accurately to support billing and coding processes.
- Coordinate prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and patient outreach to ensure continuity of care.
- Order laboratory tests and manage immunizations and injections as directed.
- Maintain a well-stocked and organized clinical environment by managing inventory, ordering supplies, and verifying receipt of medical materials.
- Utilize Accountable Care Organization (ACO) tools to support patients in accessing high-value healthcare services and resources.
- Comply with all established protocols, safety standards, and legal regulations to maintain a safe and secure working environment.
- Participate in night rotation shifts as required (2 days per week).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least one year of experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
- One year of experience in taking and recording vital signs preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred.
- Proof of COVID vaccination required.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- Excellent professionalism, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated administrative, organizational, and documentation skills.
