Medical Assistant (CMA) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our physicians and nurses, ensuring a seamless experience for patients and contributing to the overall efficiency of the clinical environment. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-centered setting and gain valuable clinical experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments and ensure proper calendar management for clinical staff.
- Answer and route phone calls, provide information as needed, and make follow-up calls as directed by the medical team.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date administrative and medical records within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Prepare examination rooms before patient visits, monitor and restock medical supplies, and maintain a clean clinical environment.
- Support various administrative tasks, including word processing, data entry, managing spreadsheets, using email, and processing credit card transactions.
- Assist with patient care by preparing individuals for examination, obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, and conducting routine diagnostic tests and screenings as directed.
- Administer vaccinations and injections under the supervision of licensed medical staff.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens such as blood, urine, and body fluids; perform blood draws, EKGs, and spirometry tests when required.
- Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned by the supervising physician or office manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program or current enrollment in such a program.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a medical office environment, with a solid understanding of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Ability to commute within a reasonable distance to the medical office.
