Medical Assistant Job Description
Medical Assistants are vital members of the healthcare team who support physicians, nurses, and other providers in delivering patient care. They perform both clinical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of medical offices, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients
Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight, etc.)
Prepare patients for examinations or procedures
Assist providers during exams and minor procedures
Administer medications or injections as directed
Schedule appointments and manage patient records
Handle phone calls, insurance verification, and billing support
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Certification (CMA or RMA) preferred but not always required
Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Medical Assistants play a key role in ensuring efficient, compassionate care and a positive experience for patients.
