Medical Assistant (MA) - Part-time Overview
SSD Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team on a part-time basis. This role combines essential clinical and front desk responsibilities in an internal medicine and primary care setting. The Medical Assistant will play a vital part in ensuring efficient patient care and smooth office operations. The position is designed for approximately 15-20 hours per week, with a flexible, day-shift schedule from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and check in patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Answer phones, triage calls, and provide information or route inquiries as appropriate to support patient needs and office workflow.
- Process incoming and outgoing faxes and manage electronic or paper document scanning to maintain up-to-date and organized patient records.
- Assist with patient check-out procedures, including scheduling follow-up appointments and verifying insurance or payment information as needed.
- Take and record vital signs, documenting all findings in the patient's chart according to established protocols.
- Administer injections as ordered by the provider, following all safety and documentation guidelines.
- Maintain patient charts by updating medical histories, recording test results, and ensuring all documentation meets compliance standards.
- Support internal medicine and primary care teams by preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and assisting with other clinical tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred; training is available for candidates with a strong desire to learn and grow in the healthcare field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and team members.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding high standards of professionalism.
- Vaccination against influenza is required for this position.
