Mechanical Project Manager Overview
The Mechanical Project Manager plays a pivotal role in leading complex HVAC and plumbing construction projects from conception to completion. As a full-time team member based in Denver, CO, the Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project management, including client relationship development, sales, labor coordination, and project execution. This position is well-suited for professionals with a background in mechanical engineering and extensive experience managing large-scale mechanical construction projects. The Mechanical Project Manager acts as a mentor to project engineers and project coordinators, supporting the professional growth of staff while ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing single-source responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction throughout each project in Denver, CO.
- Oversee all phases of mechanical construction project management, including concept engineering, estimating, proposal development, sales, and execution.
- Manage contracts, procurement, and project execution, while maintaining clear communication among clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Direct field labor needs and coordinate installation sequences in collaboration with field leadership to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, and Service.
- Provide comprehensive project documentation, including proposals, contracts, change orders, memos, and business correspondence to ensure legal protection and good business practices.
- Lead client meetings, manage external vendor relationships, and represent the company at industry and community events in the Denver, CO area.
- Participate in special studies and committees to advance technical abilities in engineering, planning, estimating, and installation procedures.
- Mentor and train less experienced team members, contributing to recruiting, coaching, and departmental growth initiatives.
- Attend and actively participate in project management, sales, and construction meetings, as well as pre-construction job meetings with department heads and supervisors.
- Forecast project budgets, control costs within established limits, and manage billing and job costing procedures.
- Uphold a high standard of integrity and actively contribute to the company's business objectives and mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating, design, or management of HVAC projects ranging from $50,000 to over $100 million.
- Demonstrated ability to independently facilitate and achieve project goals as set by supervisors.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, with a proven track record for handling multiple issues and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in developing new business opportunities and maintaining a professional presence in the community and industry organizations.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and the ability to foster strong, collaborative working relationships.
- Valid Class "C" driver's license and ability to drive as required for travel between the primary office, regional branch offices, and job sites in the Denver, CO area.

Work Environment and Schedule
