We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer (HVAC, Building Systems) to join our team on a full-time basis in Long Beach, CA. This position is focused on designing, managing, and optimizing mechanical infrastructure for a wide range of building projects, including public and private universities, central plants, data centers, and other support facilities. As a Mechanical Engineer (HVAC, Building Systems), you will play a vital role in the successful execution of projects from the proposal stage through to construction completion, ensuring that all mechanical and HVAC systems meet industry standards and client requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects related to building infrastructure, with an emphasis on HVAC and energy systems.
- Administer all phases of assigned projects, including proposal development, design, documentation, construction administration, and project closeout.
- Conduct feasibility studies and energy audits to assess and recommend mechanical solutions for client facilities.
- Develop mechanical/HVAC system designs for new construction and renovation projects in accordance with applicable codes and client specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and efficient system design.
- Prepare and deliver clear technical presentations to clients, industry partners, and internal teams.
- Oversee project schedules and deliverables to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
- Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and consistent project follow-up.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred.
- 5-10 years of engineering design and project management experience, with a strong focus on HVAC and building systems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering concepts through both oral presentations and written documentation.
- Proficiency in conducting feasibility studies and energy audits for building infrastructure projects.
- Experience using load modeling software such as Trace 700, Trace 3D Plus, or HAP preferred.
- Familiarity with hydronic simulation software such as PipeFLO or AFT Fathom is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of maintaining positive client relationships.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure.
