Mechanical Design Engineer
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and optimization of mechanical systems, with a focus on creating detailed designs for secondary packaging equipment. Your primary responsibility as a Mechanical Design Engineer will involve interpreting customer requirements provided through written and verbal specifications to deliver robust and reliable equipment designs. You will be accountable for generating equipment specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client expectations. You will also oversee various design support activities throughout the entire lifecycle of the project, from initial development and manufacturing to installation and commissioning. This role involves regular interaction and technical support for Sales, Project Management, Assembly, and Service teams, both remotely and at client sites when required.
In your daily work, you will utilize advanced solid modeling tools, ideally SolidWorks, to create precise and comprehensive mechanical designs. You will be expected to apply sound engineering judgment and effective communication skills to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of ideas within multidisciplinary teams. Mechanical Design Engineer - Summary- Design and develop detailed mechanical systems for secondary packaging equipment based on customer requirements.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Project Management, Assembly, and Service, to ensure successful project execution.
- Apply advanced solid modeling skills, ideally in SolidWorks, to produce accurate and comprehensive designs.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, from design development and manufacturing through installation and commissioning.
- Provide technical support both remotely and on-site as needed.
- Collaborate with Sales, Service, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality packaging solutions that fulfill customer expectations and project requirements.
- Develop innovative, reliable, and cost-effective machine designs that enhance performance, durability, and customer value.
- Generate comprehensive equipment specifications, BOMs, and cost estimates to support project planning and execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engineering and design challenges, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within defined scope.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by adapting to changing requirements and proposing enhancements to existing solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to assembly and service teams during manufacturing and installation phases.
- Travel up to 25% as required to support project needs and customer installations.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a combination of relevant education and equivalent hands-on experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the packaging industry, machinery, mechanical, or automation design.
- Demonstrated ability to develop detailed, production-ready machinery designs.
- Strong knowledge of machine design principles and 3D CAD solid modeling; experience integrating robotic systems is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks preferred; experience with PDM, DriveWorks, or Emulate3D software is a plus.
- Excellent technical aptitude, communication, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% as project demands require.
