Mechanical Construction Project Manager - Summary
The Mechanical Construction Project Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of multiple mechanical and plumbing projects. This includes directing all project phases, coordinating with superintendents and project teams, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role involves procurement, cost forecasting, scheduling, and ongoing client communication, alongside maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards on-site. Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct overall management and direction for assigned mechanical construction projects, ensuring all phases are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Procure necessary equipment and subcontractors for project success, negotiating contracts and maintaining supplier relationships.
- Monitor and accurately forecast job costs, manage project billing, and oversee scheduling to align with contractual obligations.
- Provide technical support and leadership to project field teams, promoting clear communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with project superintendents on daily operations, offering production oversight to meet project goals.
- Build and sustain long-term client relationships to encourage repeat business and foster open communication.
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed quality expectations, are delivered on time, and are completed within budget.
- Review and validate project estimates, ensuring accuracy in the job cost system and initial project bids.
- Lead pre-job and planning meetings, documenting outcomes and ensuring action items are followed through.
- Establish and update project schedules, ensuring personnel assignments align with project requirements.
- Oversee and execute subcontract and equipment buy-outs to support timely project progression and proper funding allocation.
- Conduct daily site visits to monitor progress, perform work inspections, and resolve project or contract issues as they arise.
- Investigate and address significant project issues, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Stay informed about project scope changes, ensuring all modifications are promptly processed and integrated.
- Prepare material takeoffs, estimates, and pricing for changes in the work scope as required by the project.
- Lead and participate in project meetings, maintaining compliance with customer and company standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience managing mechanical construction projects, with renovation experience considered a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in construction change orders and project presentations.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex, multi-faceted problems using a variety of techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create polished presentations and technical documents.
- Expertise in interpreting contracts, plans, specifications, and schematic drawings.
- Proficiency in business and technical correspondence, as well as computerized job cost accounting systems.
- Intermediate or higher skill level with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Understanding of financial models used in various contracting methods, such as fixed price, cost-plus, and unit rate/price contracts.
- Ability to work from job trailers or office settings, regularly walk job sites, and safely navigate construction environments.
- Willingness to be on-call as necessary, including evenings, weekends, or holidays to support client operations.
- Daily presence on job sites for progress checks, inspections, and meetings to ensure project alignment and issue resolution.
