The Materials Estimator plays a critical role in the procurement, cost analysis, and supply chain management processes essential to business operations. As a Materials Estimator, you will be a vital member of the finance and procurement team, supporting both direct and indirect programs. You will ensure the seamless flow of materials and supplies, supporting the organization's objectives and maintaining operational efficiency. This position requires a blend of analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. By leveraging your expertise, you will help drive cost-effective procurement, compliance, and process optimization.
As a Materials Estimator, you will be responsible for entering purchase requests, creating requisitions in the ERP system, and tracking materials required for production and operations. Effective communication with suppliers and maintaining accurate records of all requests and requisitions are essential components of your daily tasks. You will evaluate and recommend changes to suppliers and materials, assist with procurement strategy development, and identify new sources of supply as needed. Your role also involves preparing quotes, supporting proposal efforts, and adhering to strict compliance standards including GAAP and FAR/DFAR regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure that materials are procured in a cost-effective and timely manner.
The ideal candidate for the Materials Estimator position will possess at least two years of experience in government procurement or a related field, demonstrate a strong understanding of procurement and supply chain principles, and exhibit excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency with procurement software, data analysis, and ethical business practices is required. A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent work experience will be considered. Familiarity with JAMIS Prime and government regulations related to procurement, as well as prior federal contracting experience, will be advantageous.
