We are searching for a dedicated Machine Shop Assistant to join our team. In this full-time position, you will support the day-to-day operations within a busy machine shop, providing essential assistance to skilled machinists and mechanical professionals in the manufacturing and assembly of high-quality parts. Responsibilities
- Assist with the manufacturing and assembly of mechanical parts and components in the machine shop environment.
- Utilize a variety of machine shop tools, jigs, and fixtures to perform assigned production and assembly tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Support mechanical assembly processes by using hand tools and ensuring all components are securely and precisely assembled.
- Operate de-burring equipment to remove excess material and create smooth, finished edges on metal parts.
- Use standard measuring devices, including tapes, rulers, micrometers, and calipers, to verify dimensions and maintain quality standards.
- Familiarize yourself with the safe operation of standard shop equipment, such as drill presses, saws, and grinders, while following established safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate closely with team members to achieve production goals, resolve challenges, and maintain a high level of workmanship throughout all projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by regularly cleaning work areas and properly storing tools and materials.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a machine shop, mechanical assembly, or a related field is preferred, but candidates with a strong interest in mechanical work are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of machine shop tools, fixtures, and hand tools required for various manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with de-burring equipment and techniques for surface finishing of metal parts.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as tapes, rulers, scales, micrometers, and calipers for accurate measurement and inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or assembly instructions to ensure accurate production and assembly.
- Comfort and experience in operating standard shop tools, including drill presses, saws, and grinders.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing precise, high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
