As a Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN, Perioperative, you will provide essential clinical and technical support for invasive endoscopic and pulmonary procedures. This position involves assisting providers and nursing staff with patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, specimen handling, and effective operation of the procedure room. Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN, Perioperative Summary- Support clinical and technical operations for endoscopic and pulmonary procedures.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide direct patient care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
- Ensure adherence to infection control guidelines and high standards of equipment maintenance and reprocessing.
- Prepare patients for invasive procedures, collecting preoperative data and delivering patient education before and after procedures.
- Assist physicians, RNs, LPNs, hospital medics, and corpsmen throughout gastroenterological procedures, including patient recovery and monitoring.
- Conduct a range of diagnostic support tasks such as cardio-respiratory monitoring, specimen collection, and comprehensive record documentation.
- Perform EKGs (including 12-lead), initiate intravenous lines, and carry out point-of-care glucose and HCG testing as directed.
- Recognize abnormal findings and promptly report changes to the GI providers and RNs, documenting all findings in the medical record.
- Respond to life-threatening conditions with BLS and ALS procedures as needed.
- Assist in post-anesthesia recovery and deliver discharge instructions under RN supervision.
- Support the safe transportation of patients and the proper setup, cleaning, disinfection, and storage of endoscopic equipment.
- Operate and maintain electronic video endoscopy equipment and related accessories, ensuring functional readiness and accuracy in procedure reporting.
- Apply therapeutic endoscopy techniques and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment, ensuring an adequate supply of expendable items.
- Handle biopsy tissues and coordinate with the pathology department for timely specimen processing.
- Maintain detailed records related to endoscope reprocessing and assure compliance with infection control policies.
- Participate in administrative activities as directed and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered work environment.

- Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training program or equivalent military training permitting state licensure examination.
- Associate degree in Practical Nursing.
- Current unrestricted LPN/LVN license in one of the 50 US States or territories.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certifications.
- At least 1 year of LPN experience in an inpatient or outpatient healthcare setting, with prior experience in endoscopy suites, operating rooms, or other procedural environments.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Detail-oriented and able to follow strict protocols for patient safety and infection control.
- Strong communicator, capable of effectively educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experienced in high-paced surgical and perioperative environments, with a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Physically able to perform duties, including standing for extended periods, walking, and lifting up to 45 pounds.
- Adaptable to varying schedules and capable of responding to urgent patient care needs.
- Work schedule includes Monday through Friday shifts with rotations based on operational needs, including potential nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements.
- Must be able to work in dimly lighted or dark rooms during procedures.
