Lead Low Voltage Technician Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Low Voltage Technician for a contract-to-hire employment opportunity. As a Lead Low Voltage Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of low voltage systems. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems that operate at 50 volts or less, including but not limited to security systems, fire alarms, network cabling, and audio/visual components. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the low voltage field and demonstrate leadership abilities to guide and support a team of technicians.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead a team of low voltage technicians on project sites, ensuring all work is completed according to industry standards and project specifications.
- Install, test, and maintain low voltage wiring and systems including security, fire alarm, CCTV, access control, data, and voice networks.
- Troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical systems, diagnosing issues efficiently and recommending solutions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure correct installation and integration of low voltage systems.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Document all work performed, including service reports and installation records.
- Train and provide guidance to junior technicians, promoting professional development within the team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or relevant certifications preferred.
- Proven experience as a low voltage technician, with prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of low voltage systems, codes, and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
This is a contract-to-hire position. The initial contract period is six months, with the potential for transition to a permanent role based on performance and company needs.
