Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) - Summary- Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
- Function as a key member of the healthcare team, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in labor and delivery nursing.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, certified nurse-midwives, and support staff.
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of mothers and infants throughout the labor and delivery process.
- Administer medications and assist with pain management as prescribed by medical staff.
- Perform and document routine maternal and fetal assessments, including vital signs and fetal heart monitoring.
- Educate patients and their families on the labor process, pain management options, postpartum care, and newborn care.
- Assist physicians and certified nurse-midwives during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care.
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and perform life-saving interventions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, detailed nursing records and comply with all regulatory standards.
