Ted's Montana is seeking an experienced and dedicated Kitchen Manager to join our team at our Durham, NC location. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen staff, ensuring efficient operations, upholding the highest standards of food quality and safety, and contributing to a positive guest dining experience in a polished casual steakhouse environment. This is a full-time opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary excellence and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Kitchen Operations: Oversee all aspects of daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining cleanliness. Ensure each dish meets company quality standards, is presented consistently, and is served promptly. Adhere strictly to established recipes and portion guidelines to guarantee guest satisfaction.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of chefs, cooks, and prep staff. Foster a supportive work environment that encourages collaboration and open communication. Provide ongoing training and skill development to all kitchen personnel, ensuring a high-performing team capable of maintaining operational excellence.
- Food Quality and Safety: Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation. Implement and enforce rigorous food safety and sanitation practices in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular kitchen inspections and promptly address any areas in need of improvement.
- Inventory and Cost Control: Manage inventory levels efficiently to minimize food waste and control costs. Implement portion control strategies and collaborate with restaurant management to develop and monitor kitchen budgets. Continuously seek ways to optimize kitchen efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Staff Training and Development: Deliver comprehensive training for kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, plating standards, and recipe execution. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among team members.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all health, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food safety inspections, staff training, and kitchen procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Culinary Manager or Kitchen Manager in a scratch kitchen restaurant environment.
- Demonstrated strong culinary skills and a thorough understanding of kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership abilities with proven success in team management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and manage high-pressure situations effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
- Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
