Kitchen Manager Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and driven Kitchen Manager to oversee kitchen operations at our vibrant casual dining restaurant. As a Kitchen Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and kitchen efficiency. This full-time position requires strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment for your culinary team. The Kitchen Manager will ensure that every dish leaving the kitchen meets our established standards and delivers a memorable dining experience to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Kitchen Operations: Supervise all daily kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining cleanliness. Guarantee that each meal meets quality and presentation standards, and is served in a timely manner according to recipes and portion guidelines.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and support a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff. Create a positive workplace culture, encourage teamwork, and provide ongoing coaching and development to enhance skills and ensure a high-performing team.
- Food Quality and Safety: Uphold strict standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation. Enforce food safety and sanitation protocols, conduct regular inspections, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with all local and federal regulations.
- Inventory and Cost Control: Manage food inventory, minimize waste, and implement portion control measures. Work closely with management to develop and monitor budgets, control food costs, and maximize kitchen efficiency.
- Staff Training and Development: Train kitchen personnel in proper cooking techniques, food presentation, and adherence to recipes and company standards. Promote continuous learning and professional growth among the team.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all health, food handling, and sanitation regulations. Keep thorough and up-to-date records as required by law.
Qualifications
- At least three years of experience as a Kitchen Manager in a full-service casual dining restaurant.
- Strong culinary skills and comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership abilities with proven experience managing kitchen staff.
- Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle high-pressure situations.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management and cost control procedures.
- Willingness and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
